Custom Orthotic Services in Edmonton

At Innovation, we are pleased to offer custom orthotics to those requiring orthotic use to aid their rehabilitative journey. A custom orthotic aligns the foot and ankle into the most anatomically efficient position. They look like insoles but are custom-made biomechanical medical appliances to correct your specific foot imbalance.

Custom orthotics work on your feet, much like glasses on your eyes. They reduce stress and strain on your body by bringing your feet back into proper alignment. The plastic body of the custom orthotic helps to re-align the foot by redirecting and reducing specific motion during the gait cycle. Custom orthotics fit into your shoes as comfortably as an insole – and they have the advantage of being made from precise imprints of your feet.

Custom Orthotic Creation

We have partnered with The Orthotic Group (TOG), a highly trained, dedicated team of professionals committed to helping you achieve outstanding patient outcomes. During an orthotics assessment, your physical therapist will ask questions about your history, current situation, past orthotics use and treatment goals. Next, they will objectively assess your foot, ankle, and possibly entire lower body. This service will include checking your range of motion, strength, balance and gait. At this point, the therapist will have you stand and walk on a computerized device called a GaitScan.

The TOG GaitScanâ„¢ is an innovative diagnostic tool and digital casting device that allows physical therapists to analyze patient biomechanics and order custom orthotic products. With 4096 sensors and a scan rate of 300 frames per second, GaitScanâ„¢ is the industry leader in dynamic scanning capabilities.

What does this mean for you? It represents an in-depth method of assessing your gait cycle, giving healthcare providers access to new information. Over a million data points are recorded, tracking minor flaws in your biomechanics and shedding light on issues that, if left untreated, could develop into painful conditions. The TOG GaitScanâ„¢ provides practitioners with a comprehensive biomechanical analysis for each patient and clear, concise images to assess and articulate the need for orthotic therapy.
